As global packaging regulations (PPWR/SB 54) tighten, a surface-level supplier audit is no longer sufficient. To ensure Arrival Certainty™ and compliance, technical leads must audit the physics of the process.
Use this 5-point technical checklist during your 2026 supplier evaluations.
1. The Extrusion Audit: ATC or Manual?
- The Question: Does the blown film line utilize a closed-loop Automatic Thickness Control (ATC) system?
- Why it matters: Manual gauge control typically results in ±15% variation. Only ATC can achieve the ±5% Precision Protocol required for automated high-speed packing.
2. The Resin Audit: Traceability and Purity
- The Question: Can the supplier provide batch-specific resin certificates (COA) from tier-1 suppliers like ExxonMobil or Lotrene?
- Why it matters: Virgin material is the only way to guarantee a PFAS-free environment. Any "blended" or "recycled" claims without molecular-level documentation are a legal liability under SB 54.
3. The Performance Audit: Cpk and SPC Data
- The Question: What is the supplier's Cpk (Process Capability Index) for film thickness and seal strength?
- Why it matters: A solutions expert looks at the data, not the sample. A Cpk > 1.33 indicates a stable process that won't fail during high-stress logistics.
4. The Compliance Audit: PPWR Readiness
- The Question: Has the supplier performed a "Material Efficiency Audit" to prove they can downgauge without losing mechanical integrity?
- Why it matters: PPWR mandates source reduction. You need a partner who can re-engineer the film structure, not just make it thinner and weaker.
5. The Infrastructure Audit: Manufacturing Backbone
- The Question: Is the manufacturing base a verified industrial facility with over 10,000㎡ of specialized capacity?
- Why it matters: Industrial-scale reliability (like the 15,000㎡ Dongguan Chenghua Industrial backbone) ensures that 100-ton orders are handled with the same precision as a 1kg sample.
