Why Buyers Choose Flexon for Custom Self-Adhesive Bags

Flexon supports distributors, manufacturers and brands with application-based material review, custom dimensions, flap and adhesive-strip design, printing, product-specific documentation and export packing for repeat B2B self-adhesive bag programs.

  1. Materials Reviewed for the Intended Application

Virgin LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE may be considered according to the required clarity, flexibility, stiffness, sealing behavior and packing conditions. Qualified recycled-content PE and alternative-material constructions are handled as separate programs when technically suitable. Final material selection depends on the packed product, finished construction, intended use, destination market and required evidence.

  2. Defined Thickness and Production Inspection

Film extrusion and bag converting may be inspected for finished dimensions, thickness distribution, appearance, seals, flap position and adhesive-strip placement. Available nominal thicknesses generally range from 30 to 150 microns, subject to the selected material, dimensions and finished bag construction. Permitted thickness limits, measurement locations, sampling plans and acceptance criteria are confirmed in the approved order specification.

  3. Custom Flaps, Adhesive Systems and Printing

Buyers can specify custom widths generally ranging from 30 to 750 mm, subject to the material, thickness and bag construction. Available options may include custom flap lengths, permanent or resealable adhesive systems, release liners, vent holes, warning text and branded artwork. Gravure printing of up to eight colors may be available when technically suitable for the approved film, artwork, coverage and order quantity.

  4. Adhesive Performance Defined by Use Conditions

Adhesive performance can be affected by the adhesive system, film treatment, packed-product surface, dust, temperature, humidity, storage duration and repeated opening. Where these characteristics are important, the approved specification should define the required peel, tack, opening, residue and storage-evaluation methods. A general self-adhesive bag should not be assigned a universal shelf life without evidence for the selected construction and storage conditions.

  5. Evidence Matched to the Finished Product

Supporting documents are reviewed according to their legal holder, material, tested sample, method, reporting limits, intended use and destination market. Depending on the specification and available evidence, a project file may include resin, adhesive or component declarations, food-contact documents, PFAS-related declarations or testing, REACH or RoHS evidence and order-specific inspection records. A document for one material, adhesive system or sample should not be applied automatically to another finished product.

  6. Samples and Order-Specific Production Planning

Existing samples or custom prototypes may be available before mass production, depending on the requested construction. Indicative production timing may be approximately 7–10 days for eligible plain products and 15–20 days for some custom orders after the required specification, artwork and sample approvals. Final sample availability, MOQ, production lead time and shipment schedule are confirmed in the written quotation for the individual product and order.

Self-Adhesive Closure Engineering

Adhesive
Closure Control

A self-adhesive bag closes by folding a flap over an adhesive strip. Resealable adhesive supports repeated access, while permanent adhesive is intended for stronger one-time closure.

Peel strength and opening cycles depend on adhesive chemistry, strip position, film surface, temperature, dust, pressure and dwell time. Permanent adhesive is not automatically tamper-evident unless the finished construction is tested to a defined requirement.

Custom Self-Adhesive Bag Types and Recommended Uses

Compare Flexon’s standard clear, heavy-duty, anti-static and write-on self-adhesive bag options. Each construction can be customized by dimensions, film thickness, adhesive construction, color and printing according to the packed product and application requirements.

Recommended thicknesses are general selection ranges. Final material, dimensions, adhesive construction and performance requirements must be confirmed against the packed product, approved sample and applicable test specification. Standard self-adhesive bags should not be treated as hermetic, sterile, liquid-proof or electrostatic-shielding packaging unless separately tested.

Compliance Evidence

Available Documents for Custom Self-Adhesive Bag Projects

Flexon provides material test reports and management-system documents according to the selected resin, additives, printing system, intended application and destination market. Report scope must be confirmed against the exact specification ordered.

  1. FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 Material Report

    Analytical Report by SGS

Relevant to: selected virgin PE materials intended for food-contact self-adhesive bag projects.

Coverage must be checked against the tested resin, additives, colorants, printing ink and conditions of use. This report is not blanket FDA approval for every product variant.

  2. PFAS Screening Report

    Screening Report by SGS

Relevant to: buyers requiring PFAS screening evidence for the tested PE material or finished sample.

The report applies to the identified sample and tested substances. Applicability to a destination market must be confirmed against current legal thresholds and the final ordered specification.

  3. RoHS 10 Chemical Test Report

    Chemical Analysis by CTI

Relevant to: selected material specifications for electronics, hardware and other projects requesting restricted-substance testing.

RoHS testing does not prove food-contact suitability, anti-static performance, electrostatic shielding or medical suitability. The report must match the tested sample.

  4. ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Systems

    Quality & Environmental Management

Relevant to: buyers evaluating Flexon’s quality-management and environmental-management systems.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are management-system certificates. They do not independently certify food contact, thickness tolerance, recyclability or the performance of every finished self-adhesive bag.

Compliance documents are supplied for evidence review, not as universal approval of every product shown on this page. The approved quotation, resin grade, colorant, printing ink, finished specification and applicable report define the compliance scope for each order. Application Guidance

When to Use — and Not Use — Standard Self-Adhesive Bags

Press-to-close PE self-adhesive bags are designed for organization, repeated access and general product protection. They are not a universal replacement for sterile, liquid-proof, high-barrier or regulated dangerous-goods packaging.

Recommended Applications

Suitable when the material, thickness and adhesive construction are matched to the packed product.

  1. Apparel, Fashion and Accessories

Organizes screws, fittings, spare parts and industrial components. Heavy or sharp items may require thicker film and puncture testing.

  2. Retail, Promotional and Printed Packaging

Suitable for accessories, samples, kits, promotional products and branded retail packs requiring repeated opening and closing.

  3. E-commerce, Fulfillment and Returns

Can be configured for food-contact projects when the resin, additives, colorants and printing system are matched to the intended food and supporting report.

  4. Documents, Catalogs and Sample Sets

Write-on panels, barcodes and custom printing can support sample tracking, batch identification and inventory organization.

  5. Lightweight Product Organization

Anti-static PE options may be used when the required surface-resistance range is specified and verified for the application.

Not Recommended Without Separate Testing

These applications require a different construction, documented test method or specialist packaging system.

  1. Sterile or Validated Medical Barrier Packaging

A standard self-adhesive bag is not a sterile barrier and should not be used as primary sterile medical packaging without dedicated validation.

  2. Liquid Storage or Transport

Press-to-close seals should not be assumed to be leak-proof. Liquid applications require a tested seal structure and defined acceptance criteria.

  3. High Heat, Freezing or Harsh Storage

Standard LDPE self-adhesive bags are not designed for retort, boiling, oven use, hot filling or vacuum-processing conditions unless separately engineered.

  4. Hazardous Materials or Dangerous Goods

Chemicals, infectious substances and regulated dangerous goods require packaging tested and approved for the applicable transport or containment standard.

  5. Certified Tamper-Evident Packaging

An anti-static PE bag is not the same as a static-shielding bag. Sensitive electronics may require metallized or multilayer shielding packaging with verified performance.

Final suitability depends on the approved material, film thickness, adhesive construction, packed contents, handling conditions and applicable test report. Buyers with controlled or regulated applications should provide the required performance standard before sampling or quotation.

Custom Self-Adhesive Bag Buying Guide

Essential answers about LDPE materials, film thickness, zipper profiles, food-contact requirements, customization, MOQ, samples and production lead time.

What films are available for custom self-adhesive bags?

Standard Flexon self-adhesive bags are available in virgin LDPE, selected for flexibility, clarity and low-odor packaging. The exact resin grade is selected according to the packed product and destination market.

Recycled-content PE, anti-static PE and compostable formulations are separate material programs. Their performance, disposal requirements and supporting documents must be evaluated independently.

What thickness should I choose for a PE self-adhesive bag?

Thickness depends on bag dimensions, packed-product weight, sharp edges, puncture risk and handling conditions. General selection ranges include:

  • 30–50 microns for lightweight products
  • 50–80 microns for standard retail and general storage
  • 80–120 microns for hardware and industrial components
  • Up to 150 microns for engineered heavy-duty requirements

Final thickness should be confirmed through specification review and sample evaluation.

What is the difference between resealable and permanent adhesive?

A single-track seal uses one interlocking adhesive construction and is suitable for general storage, retail packaging and lightweight products.

A double-track seal uses two interlocking profiles, providing greater closure redundancy for repeated opening and closing. The correct option depends on bag size, packed contents, opening force and target cost.

Can self-adhesive bags be used for food-contact projects?

Food-contact options are available when the selected resin, additives, colorants and printing system are suitable for the intended food and conditions of use.

Buyers may request the applicable SGS analytical report against FDA 21 CFR 177.1520. Report coverage must be checked against the exact material and finished specification.

Standard self-adhesive bags should not automatically be described as hermetic, leak-proof or sterile unless the finished construction has been separately tested.

What sizes, features and printing options can be customized?
  • Widths from 30 to 750 mm and custom lengths
  • Film thicknesses from 30 to 150 microns
  • Resealable or permanent adhesive strips
  • Transparent, colored or frosted film
  • Write-on panels, warning text and barcode areas
  • Ventilation holes and customized export packing
  • Gravure printing in up to 8 colors

Final specifications depend on artwork, bag construction, packed-product requirements and production review.

What is the MOQ, and can I receive samples before ordering?

Existing samples may be available for initial material, thickness and construction evaluation. Custom-size or printed prototypes can also be arranged when required.

Mass-production MOQ depends on dimensions, thickness, material, adhesive construction, printing colors and packing requirements. A single prototype is not the MOQ for mass production.

What is the production lead time, and what is required for a quote?

Eligible plain products typically require 7–10 days. Custom production normally requires 15–20 days after material, dimensions, artwork, samples and order details are approved. Shipping time is quoted separately.

For an accurate quotation, provide:

  • Finished width and length
  • Packed product and unit weight
  • Preferred thickness or a physical reference sample
