High-speed packaging equipment can be sensitive to variations in film thickness, dimensions, sealing and surface quality. For procurement teams, comparing PE bag manufacturers therefore requires more than evaluating price per kilogram.
This guide explains the technical and commercial criteria buyers can use to evaluate potential suppliers. It is not a supplier ranking. Capabilities should be confirmed against the exact product specification, approved sample and supporting production records.
1. Define the Required Thickness Tolerance
State the nominal thickness and permitted tolerance in the RFQ and purchase specification. Ask each supplier to explain its measurement method, sampling frequency, instrument type and treatment of readings outside the agreed range.

2. Confirm How Thickness Is Measured
A tolerance figure is only useful when the inspection method is defined. Buyers should confirm where measurements are taken, how many samples are checked and whether the reported value represents an individual reading, an average or a production-lot result.

3. Verify Material Traceability
Specify whether the application requires virgin PE, recycled content or another defined material structure. Resin grade, supplier documentation and applicable supporting documents should be confirmed for the individual order.
Virgin PE does not automatically prove that a finished package is suitable for every food-contact, pharmaceutical or regulated application. Suitability depends on the complete formulation, manufacturing conditions, intended use and the documents required for the target market.
4. Evaluate Dimensions, Seals and Printing
Thickness is only one production variable. Buyers should also define finished width and length, seal position, seal strength requirements, opening dimensions, printing artwork, color references and acceptable visual defects.
For bags intended for automated lines, request production samples and conduct a line trial under the buyer’s actual packing conditions before approving mass production.
5. Compare Capacity Using the Same Definition
Published capacity figures are difficult to compare unless they use the same scope and period. Ask whether a figure represents installed capacity, historical output or output available for a particular product.

6. Request Evidence Before Supplier Approval
